GLS Charity Walk Route: Pyg Track

GLS Charity Walk Route: Pyg Track

From Pen y Pass car park, the Pyg Track is one of three paths, others being Miners and Crib Goch.  Pyg Track is a rocky and difficult path with several steep climbs.

While the Pyg track is one of the shortest routes up yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), it is rugged and challenging route to the summit, the Pyg Track is well maintained and easy to follow, this route has the least amount of vertical ascent but it’s still quite a tough walk.

Beginning at Pen y Pass, the Pyg winds its way over Bwlch y Moch, where you will catch your first glimpse of Llyn Llydaw and its iconic causeway, at this point you have come about 1.6km (1mile) you will go over the style to continuing along the foothills of Crib Goch, the path to the right before the style leads to Crib Goch, the Pyg eventually meets the Miners’ Track at around 760M then continuing on to meet the Llanberis Path to the summit of yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) at 1085M (3,560ft)

The idea is simple: you pick a route, make your £10 donation  via the “Count Me In” button and turn up… if all things go to plan as per Newton’s theory then we shall all meet at the top at the same time …or at least on the same day unless Murphy’s law prevails LOL..

Hopefully we can arrive at similar times and have a coffee if the cafe is open although we do encourage you to bring your own hot/cold drinks .

A full packing list will be emailed to you a week before the event so please make sure you can receive emails from Gift Life Saturday.

Charity: Llanberis Mountain Rescue

Our chosen charity for this month is Llanberis Mountain Rescue.

All the mountain rescues around the UK are run on a voluntary basis and they rely on donations from people like you and me to meet the running costs of vehicles, helicopters (generally shared) and equipment.

Most of us have watched these people in action from afar but few of us have seen them up close and personal.

The dedication and courage they display leaves us all in awe and very grateful indeed. They drop everything, leave their loved ones, put their own lives in danger to rescue those who they have never met and perhaps will never meet again.
