GLS Charity Walk Route:Crib Goch

GLS Charity Walk Route : Crib Goch

From Pen y Pass car park, the Crib Goch Track is one of three paths, the others being Miners and Pyg.

You have to walk up the Pyg track for about a mile, you will come to a style but if you look to your right before the style you will get a glimpse of what your up against and this is just to get you to top of Crib Goch, the path up is a rocky and difficult path with several steep climbs this is grade1 scramble. We will only take people on this if they have previous experience of at least grade1 scramble and have a very good fitness.  This path can only be done in good weather, if the weather is not favorable on the day we will continue on with the Pyg track to the Snowdon summit.

You will need a good head for heights and footwear.  This event is not designed to take people up with no grade1 scrambling, Gift Life Adventures run other events where you can join in with grade1 routes such as this.  Crib Goch has an exposed ridge for about 500m, although this can be mitigated slightly by walking to the left of the knife edge it is still very dangerous.

There is nothing easy about this route, it has a lot of rocky parts to negotiate so please if you have not done this before i would recommend either getting some experience with a guide before hand or choose one of the other six routes.

The idea is simple: you pick a route, make your £10 donation  via the “Count Me In” button and turn up… if all things go to plan as per Newton’s theory then we shall all meet at the top at the same time …or at least on the same day unless Murphy’s law prevails LOL..

Hopefully we can arrive at similar times and have a coffee if the cafe is open although we do encourage you to bring your own hot/cold drinks .

A full packing list will be emailed to you a week before the event so please make sure you can receive emails from Gift Life Saturday.

Charity: Llanberis Mountain Rescue

Our chosen charity for this month is Llanberis Mountain Rescue.

All the mountain rescues around the UK are run on a voluntary basis and they rely on donations from people like you and me to meet the running costs of vehicles, helicopters (generally shared) and equipment.

Most of us have watched these people in action from afar but few of us have seen them up close and personal.

The dedication and courage they display leaves us all in awe and very grateful indeed. They drop everything, leave their loved ones, put their own lives in danger to rescue those who they have never met and perhaps will never meet again.
